Can I apply?

IAESTE Macedonia offers paid internships for all enrolled undergraduate and postgraduate students at the following universities: "SS. Cyril and Methodius University" in Skopje, "St. Clement of Ohrid " in Bitola, "Goce Delchev" in Shtip and the University of Information Science and Technology "St. Paul The Apostle" in Ohrid. The internships through IAESTE are usually in the field of technology and natural sciences. The students who apply for these internships must meet certain requirements listed in the job offer.

Internship length

The length of the internships varies from 6 weeks to 12 months. Both the length and the period of the internship are decided by the employer. Please confirm/compare these dates accordingly to your availability and include them in the application.

Visa/Work Permit

Each intern is responsible for securing their own visa/work permit before leaving for the internship. IAESTE helps with the obtaining of these documents only in certain countries. Students are obliged to contact the embassy or consulate responsible for Republic of North Macedonia and inform themselves on the documents needed for the internship. You can find more information on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of North Macedonia: (here) Official documents confirming your internship will help when applying for a visa. If you have any problems with the application for the internship, feel free to contact IAESTE. Please do not travel without the required documents, visa, work permit, etc. IAESTE is not responsible for the consequences of the student leaving for the internship without the required documents. When traveling, please take copies of the official IAESTE documents confirming your internship as well as any other important documents. IAESTE Macedonia does not guarantee the claiming of the visa and work permit and is not responsible if the visa/work permit application is denied.

Are the internships paid?

Interns who have claimed their internship through IAESTE Macednia receive a salary from their employer. However, please make sure that you will have enough financial resources to cover any expenses regarding the visa/work permit, travel costs, as well as any other expenses until you receive your first payment.

Required documents

After the open applications are closed, or the application period ends, the documents are looked through by a responsible at IAESTE Macedonia. Each candidate is allowed to choose three internships and rank them according to priority (first internships as the most desired). If more than one student applies for the same internship, there will be a ranking based on the provided documents (grades, language knowledge, certificates, year of studies and the compatibility of the fields of studies with the requirements of the internship). The candidate which receives the most points from these criteria, is allowed to apply for the internship (their documents will be sent to the company/university offering the internship). The other candidates receive their internships accordingly to their priority internships list. If only one student applies to a certain intership, they can apply as long as they meet the requirements of the internship.
